Armygeddon
Apr 17This is what I’m currently working on – Armygeddon! It’s a turn-based strategy game for the mobile phone. I do all of the rigging/animating, explosions and special effects, the map and some assets here and there. The map has been updated to be seam-free, color corrected and higher res since this press release video and screenshot:
Here is the updated tile map I’ve been working on, among other things:
I’ll put some of the animations and effects up here soon, since that’s mainly what I’m doing on this project! Thank for viewing
Spritesheet for Explosion!
Apr 15Using one animated spritesheet instead of multiple emitters that emit hundreds of single sprites for an explosion saves a lot of space when you’re trying to make a game, especially in Unity for a mobile device. Here is an example of one:
BOOM!!!!
Here’s the Spritesheet:
I made this in Timeline FX Editor. I highly recommend the program, and the last I checked a license was only like a hundred bucks!
Feel free to use the Spritesheet for whatever, and I’ll likely upload more creative stuff later on.
Prize Fishing
Apr 15Here is something that I worked on for Punch Entertainment, which sadly shut down before this was able to be made. It was supposed to be a fishing game that was unisex, but cute and appealing to a younger crowd. We had quite an extensive word filter. Hahaha! The artist that had left before me had already made the backgrounds for the game so I tried to work with that style.
Here is a color and style guide that I made to try to bring everything together:
A concept for the background that I wasn’t able to
complete due to time constraints and cancellation of
the project:
Some of MANY fish concepts for the game:
Character style concepts – they all had to stay in this reaching
pose and be about this size:
What the game would have looked like:
Hopefully I can get my hands on another fishing game someday. This was a lot of fun to work on, and I liked doing research for this country storybook-esque style!
Adventures of Yoville
Apr 15Remember the facebook game craze? I sure do. I got a contract at Zynga working on Yoville. Yoville is a social game similar in some ways to the Sims and Cafe World, if you could somehow put the two together. My job was not to make the artwork or to animate, but to actually integrate stuff into the game using Flex.
One of my jobs was to make sure that the signs read left to right
no matter which direction they faced. Everything had to be
able to rotate in the game.
I also had to make sure that every single piece of furniture
was masked out correctly so that the character could sit
without being overlapped by the arm, etc.
This game is still available and playable on facebook.
The best thing to come out of Yoville are the music videos
people make to them online:
lol.
